Xreal is making waves in the AR space with the global launch of its Android-powered Beam Pro, priced at just $200
Initially introduced in China, the device combines the versatility of Android apps with the immersive experience of AR glasses. The Beam Pro resembles a standard smartphone in form and is designed for easy use by beginners. Running Android 14 with customizations for AR capabilities, it features an unnamed Snapdragon chipset, 6/8GB RAM, and 128/256GB storage with a microSD slot. The device supports Wi-Fi 6 and offers an optional 5G model, ideal for streaming content on the go without relying on a smartphone. Unlike regular smartphones with Xreal Air glasses, the Beam Pro ensures compatibility and functionality with its dedicated hardware setup. It includes dual USB-C ports for connection and charging, supporting 27W fast charging. Notably, it boasts dual 50MP cameras for capturing spatial photos and videos, which can be viewed in 2D on its 6.5” LCD screen or in 3D with the Xreal Air glasses.
The device’s LCD panel can also function as a touch panel when wearing the glasses, making app navigation intuitive. Xreal’s custom UI, NebulaOS, enables multitasking with two apps simultaneously on its virtual screen, a feature lacking in most Android distributions. Access to the Google Play Store allows the installation of millions of apps and games, making it a versatile entertainment and productivity tool. It supports streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ and gaming platforms such as Steam Link and Xbox Cloud Gaming, with compatibility with Nvidia’s CloudXR. Pre-orders are now available globally, and they will be available in multiple countries starting in August. For existing Xreal Beam owners, a $50 discount is offered on the Pro model until July 10. The device will also be available on Amazon from July onwards. Overall, the Xreal Beam Pro represents a cost-effective entry into AR technology, bridging the gap between smartphones and dedicated AR devices with its innovative features and affordable price point.
