WTC Final: India and Australia finally come face-to-face at The Oval
All eyes are on the World Test Championship or WTC final, where the two test giants, India and Australia, will battle each other for the title. Both teams have been tirelessly working at their practice sessions to get used to ground conditions since neither has home-field advantage in this ultimate test match. Australia has a list of seasoned match-winners, such as David Warner, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Mitchell Starc, to name a few. Labuschagne and Smith are currently at number one and three in the Test rankings, which is enough to prove their batting depth. Starc and Nathan Lyon will be actively heading the pace and spin department, respectively, which is enough for the team to remain absolutely confident.
However, they have the world’s No. 1 Test team on the other hand, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, facing them in this WTC Final. He is backed by champions like Virat Kohli, Chetashwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja, who will be putting their best foot forward in the next five days. To further strengthen their already ferocious batting lineup, India has also brought back their test expert Ajinkya Rahane in the middle order. Rohit Sharma and India’s in-form rising star Shubhman Gill will open their innings and will be followed by their other star batsmen. On the bowling end, Ashwin remains and the top position in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers. Shami and Mohammad Siraj will helm India’s pace attack and will be looking to make the most of the bowler-favouring conditions at The Oval.
Both teams will be looking to get ahead on the Day 1 of the WTC Final, which will begin soon.
