Woman Exposes Bharat Matrimony After Misuse of Her Image

Swati Mukund, a married woman, recently discovered that her photo was being used without permission in a fake profile on Bharat Matrimony’s “elite” service

Swati Mukund, a married woman, recently discovered that her photo was being used without permission in a fake profile on Bharat Matrimony’s “elite” service. The profile, Nithya Raja Sekar, described the woman in the photo as a 35-year-old fitness expert from Chennai and marked her as “Newly Joined” and a Brahmin. Upon discovering this misuse, Mukund took to social media, sharing her story in a viral video and calling it the “BharatMatrimony Scam.” In the video, she expressed disbelief, asking how a profile using her image could slip through what is marketed as Bharat Matrimony’s high-standard, high-fee screening process. In the video, she even introduced her husband. She emphasized that she had not met him through any matrimonial site, hoping to prevent any further false association with the platform.

Mukund’s post, tagged with Bharat Matrimony’s official Instagram handle, captioned “More acrimony than matrimony, I guess!” grabbed the attention with multiple views and comments. Many users shared similar experiences of fraudulent profiles on the platform, raising further questions about Bharat Matrimony’s security measures. Responding to the backlash, Bharat Matrimony commented under Mukund’s post, apologizing and claiming they had suspended the fake account while launching an internal investigation. The company assured Mukund they would update her directly. It stated that EliteMatrimony, a separate, offline-only service, was not associated with the fake profile. Bharat Matrimony also mentioned banning the mobile number linked to the profile, promising improved safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
