WHO Chief Tedros Praises India’s Ayushman Bharat Scheme
World Health Organisation or WHO chief Tedros has heaped praises on India’s mass health scheme – Ayushman Bharat Yojna, during his recent address at the inauguration ceremony of the G20 Health Minister’s Meeting, which was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He said during his speech, “I commend India for their steps in advancing Universal Health Coverage and the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is the world’s largest health assurance initiative. I visited a Health and Wellness Centre here in Gandhinagar and was impressed by the primary healthcare services being provided to 1000 households by the HWC.”
He further added, “It is an excellent example of transforming healthcare. I also thank India G20 Presidency for taking leadership in the Global Digital Health Initiative, which will be launched tomorrow.” Along with WHO chief Tedros, more than 70 delegates from countries all over the world also participated in this event. India is currently gearing up to host world leaders in New Delhi next month, where the heads of all member nations will arrive to find solutions to several major issues pertaining to the world.
