WhatsApp Discontinues Electron-Based Desktop App
WhatsApp has made a major move by discontinuing its desktop app that uses the Electron framework. This decision was reportedly taken with the aim of promoting their native app, as per India TV. However, this decision was not made abruptly, as the social media platform has been notifying its users for several days now so that their daily usage and operations do not get affected. The countdown of its shutdown was also displayed on the main screen in the last few days to leave no room for the users to miss this update.
With this decision, WhatsApp has effectively announced its plans to increase its native interface for a larger number of users to give them an enhanced experience for both personal and professional usage. Many users have, however shared their disapproval over this move as the Electron-based app had many features that were useful for small and big businesses. However, these features are not present in the native app, and this can cause a huge disruption in their work. WhatsApp is consequently addressing these issues by ensuring that users can use those same features in their native app as well.
