WhatsApp deleted 7.4 million Indian accounts in April 2023
WhatsApp has been proactive in reassuring its commitment towards privacy and security of its millions of users around the world, especially in India. In the month of April 2023 alone, the social messaging app has deleted 7.4 million accounts in India as per the regulations set by the IT Ministry. WhatsApp’s official spokesperson said, “In accordance with the IT Rules 2021, we have published our report for the month of April 2023. This user-safety report contains the details of the user complaints received and the corresponding actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive measures to combat abuse on our platform,” as per ANI.
They further continued, “As captured in the latest Monthly Report, WhatsApp banned over 7.4 million accounts in the month of April and over 2.4 million of these accounts were proactively banned, before any reports from the users.” The app has introduced multiple features in recent past that has come a welcome news for its users. Most recent was the Chat Lock feature, where you can secure individual chats with your phone security. WhatsApp has also enabled users to edit their messages up to 15 minutes after they have sent them.
