Virgin Atlantic Airline Ends Operations in Pakistan
The well-known Virgin Atlantic airline, which flies active international and domestic flights all around the world, has officially ended all its operations in Pakistan. Its last flight took off from Islamabad and landed in London’s Heathrow Airport, thereby putting a full stop to their short-lived tenure in the country, as per PTI. The airlines had entered Pakistan’s civil aviation market in 2023 and initially flew seven flights per week. They have expressed their regret over this decision to stop their services of providing air travel between Pakistan and London.
A spokesperson of the Virgin Atlantic airline said, “As we continue to ramp up our flying programme in 2023, we’ve taken the opportunity to review our entire network and decided to make a few changes. Since commencing operations in December 2020, we have been proud to offer choice for customers travelling between London and Manchester in the United Kingdom and Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone in Pakistan; our customers, teams, partners and the authorities for their support over the past two years.” While Pakistan is going through massive economic turmoil, the Virgin Atlantic airline is yet to state the official reasons behind effectively shutting down its operations in the country.
