Virat Kohli smashes another ton, but to no avail as RCB gets knocked out
Virat Kohli proved yet again last night why he is considered one of India’s greatest players, as he hit a second consecutive hundred for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore, against a mighty bowling attack of Gujarat Titans. RCB faced a must-win game last night to enter playoffs, which was delayed due to rain. However, RCB batted first, and after a decent opening partnership between Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis, wickets started falling at regular intervals. However, Virat stood strong and powered his team to 197 runs on the back of his outstanding century.
Gujarat Titans gave a ferocious response in the second innings, as their promising batting star Shubhman Gill also scored his second ton this season and led this chase. Despite Mohammad Siraj’s best efforts, their bowling attack failed to defend the total, and Gujarat continued their matchless form this season. Virat Kohli and RCB will thus go another season without the trophy as Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Mumbai Indians advance into the playoffs.
