Vikram recently revealed a surprising twist in his early career, sharing that he was initially considered for the lead role in Mani Ratnam’s 1995 film Bombay. However, the role went to Arvind Swami due to a mistake during the audition. Vikram explained that he didn’t refuse the role but rather struggled with the audition process. Mani Ratnam asked him to audition using a still camera, which threw him off. When asked to look at a running girl, he froze, thinking his movements would blur the image, and losing out on the role deeply saddened Vikram, who admitted to crying for two months after the audition.
He had been looking forward to working with Mani Ratnam and considered it a dream opportunity. Despite the setback, Vikram eventually got to work with Mani Ratnam on Ponniyin Selvan: I and II, which he jokingly referred to as his “revenge.” He is working on another film, Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, directed by SU Arun Kumar. Vikram’s recent film, Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, was released in August. The actor has come a long way since his early days but still recalls the disappointment of missing out on the lead role in Bombay.
