Vietnam warns Tik Tok against posting unwanted content
Popular social media and video streaming platform Tik Tok has globally been in the news for a while now ever since reports emerged that suggested that the platform could pose a potential threat to any nation’s security that it’s present in. Many nations have expressed their concerns regarding the content streamed on Tik Tok, and India had become one of the first countries to impose a ban on it. Now, Vietnam has sent out its own message against the social media giant and its other counterparts and warned them against posting ‘toxic’ content on their respective platforms.
Le Quang To Do, the Director of Vietnam’ Authority of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic information has said the below-par management has resulted in spread of ‘fake news’ and ‘anti-government’ content on Tik Tok, which creates a negative impact on the people. It was further implied that action would be taken against all such platforms if they are found violating any laws. Tik Tok, a Chinese-origin social media platform, was banned in India in 2020 in response to the Galwan clash between India and China that resulted in the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers. Along with Tik Tok, several other Chinese apps were also banned by the Government of India citing national security concerns.
