Vedaa noted to be a highest earner for John Abraham since 2018!
The action film Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, was released on August 14 and received a positive response from critics
Despite clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 on Independence Day, Vedaa performed well at the box office. The movie collected around Rs 6.52 Cr India net on its first day across all languages. In Hindi, Vedaa achieved an overall occupancy of 35.63% on August 15, with morning shows at 15.27% and afternoon and evening shows witnessing an upward trend at 42.23% and 49.36%, respectively. Notably, Vedaa is John Abraham’s biggest opener in six years since his 2018 Independence Day blockbuster, Satyamev Jayate.
Directed by Nikkhil Advani, Vedaa stands out from typical action flicks by prioritizing the plot over majestic entry scenes and fight sequences. The film tells a story, even if action scenes sometimes overshadow it. While the commentary on casteism is heavy-handed, Vedaa avoids sacrificing narrative for incredible, slow-motion action sequences. The songs are mostly forgettable, but Mouni Roy leaves a mark in a special appearance for the ‘Mummy Ji’ song. Overall, Vedaa is a welcome change in the action genre.
