US State Department Urges Pak to ‘Disband’ Terror Groups
The US State Department has issued a stern response to Pakistan’s recent remarks against India and the United States’ joint statement during PM Narendra Modi’s State Visit. The department has urged Pakistan to take active steps to ‘disband’ all terror groups operating in their country. Their statement reads, “We have also been consistent on the importance of Pakistan continuing to take steps to permanently disband all terrorist groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and their various front organisations. We will raise the issue regularly with Pakistani officials and will continue to work together to counter mutual terrorist threats, as we discussed during our March 2023 CT dialogue,” as per PTI.
The US State Department has been actively sharing insights from the interactions between Prime Minister Modi and President Joe Biden, who came to several landmark agreements during these meetings. Some of the biggest ones include the technology transfer of fighter jet engines by General Electric to India, India’s inclusion in the Artemis Accords of the United States, and the various defence and trade deals that the two countries have signed. Despite Pakistan’s protests, India and the US have strongly expressed their stance against state-backed terror activities.
