US Heatwave Puts California, Florida and Las Vegas at Risk
The United States of America is facing a major after-effect of global warming as the US heatwave has put the citizens of California, Florida and Las Vegas at a serious health risk. The country’s National Weather Service has revealed that the temperature in Death Valley, California, has reached 128 degrees Fahrenheit (53 degrees Celsius). On the other hand, the Furnace Creek Visitors Centre has recorded 133 degrees Fahrenheit (56 degrees Celsius), which has made 2023 nearly the hottest year in the area in a century.
Las Vegas, on the other hand, is suffering from even worse weather, as the city is expected to reach or even break its own temperature record of 117F (47.2 degrees Celsius), as per BBC. The National Weather Service has issued an alarming statement on these rising temperatures saying, “Take the heat seriously and avoid time outdoors. Temperatures will reach levels that pose a health risk and are potentially deadly to anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Heat is the leading weather-related killer in the US.” Along with California, Florida and Las Vegas, states like Texas and Arizona are also facing the testing weather conditions of the ongoing US heatwave.
