Twitter opens subscribed users to upload 2-hour videos
Business magnate Elon Musk has announced that all Twitter Blue subscribers with verified accounts will be able to post videos for up to the duration of two hours on the platform. Long videos were earlier only possible to post via web, but now one can post them through the phone app as well, given their total size does not exceed 8 GB. This announcement has yielded a strong response from Twitterati, and many inquired about when these videos would be monetised.
Tech experts believe that this new feature is set to become a major competition for YouTube in the future. YouTube has created an absolute monopoly in video streaming services, allowing their users to upload hours of content at high video quality. While Twitter has a while to match YouTube and bring such advanced features to its subscribers, they have effectively taken the first step to provide an alternative to YouTube. They are expected to monetise their videos soon, with an aim to increase their user base.
