Trudeau Raises ‘Nijjar Row’ Again, Says Bharat Broke Vienna Convention

The ‘Nijjar Row’ created a major strain on Bharat and Canada’s diplomatic relations after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau recently accused Bharat of assassinating known Khalistani operative Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. Bharat’s Ministry of External Affairs rebutted this claim and demanded proof, but the Canadian government has stated that they have ‘credible allegations’ of the alleged assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau has once again stoked the ‘Nijjar row,’ saying that Bharat’s agents were involved in the assassination and that Canada even sought Bharat’s help to get to the “bottom of the matter’, as per CPAC news.

During a press briefing, Trudeau even accused Bharat of violating the Vienna Convention after New Delhi expelled 41 of their total 62 diplomats in the country, along with cancelling visas for Canadian citizens. However, Bharat has already mentioned the reason behind the removal of these diplomats was to create a parity of diplomatic presence between the two nations since Canada earlier had far more diplomats across Bharat than their counterparts. Trudeau’s latest response came after the United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called for the earliest resolution between Bharat and Canada, citing that they are two of their ‘closest partners.’
