Tim Cook Calls Mass Layouts Their “Last Resort”
At a time when the global economy seems to be rapidly heading towards recession, there is a strong concern regarding mass layoffs, even in tech conglomerates like Apple. Amid these rising concerns, Apple CEO Tim Cook has made it clear that they are only looking at a mass layoff as the “last resort” during his conversation with CNBC. However, given the current economic situation in most parts of the world, there surely is a possibility of a large number of people losing their jobs should the global economy continue to deteriorate.
Like most other tech companies, Apple is also cutting costs and restricting the hire of new employees to make sure that their costs don’t spiral out of control. “We’re continuing to hire, just at a lower clip level than we were before. And we’re doing all the right things by challenging the things that we spend, and we’re just finding a few more ways to save on it,” Tim Cook said. He had recently visited India to inaugurate the Apple Stores that have been opened in the BKC area of Mumbai, as well as the Saket area of Delhi.
