Jerlyn Dsilva experienced a harrowing road rage incident in Pune, which led to her being physically assaulted by a car driver. On Saturday, Dsilva, a 27-year-old mother riding a two-wheeler with her two children, was attacked after being pursued two kilometres by a car driver on Baner-Pashan Road. The driver, accompanied by a woman, has been arrested. The attack unfolded after Dsilva encountered the driver at Mahabaleshwar Chowk. Despite attempting to avoid confrontation by steering left at a red signal, the driver became aggressive. As the signal turned green, he blocked her path, exited his vehicle, and assaulted her. In a distressing account, Dsilva described how the driver grabbed her by her t-shirt and punched her multiple times in the face while his wife did not intervene.

She further claimed that the woman also physically assaulted her as she tried to take the car keys to prevent the driver from fleeing. The altercation was reported by bystanders who intervened, and Dsilva was taken to the hospital. A video of the attack, posted by Dsilva to seek justice, has gone viral on social media, raising awareness about women’s safety. The police have registered the case at Chaturshrangi Police Station. The 57-year-old man and his wife face charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Dsilva’s video details the incident, highlighting the danger she faced with her children and expressing concern for women’s safety in the city.
