The Russia-Ukraine conflict : Ukraine asks for humanitarian aid from India
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been going on for over a year now, and there is no assurance on how long it might last. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again, requesting aid from India. As per a report from India Today, Zelensky has reportedly written a letter to PM Modi where he has requested for medical equipment and other human necessities needed by Ukrainian capital Kyiv, which is under severe pressure as far as logistics is concerned.
The letter was delivered by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova to Minister of State External Affairs and Culture, Menakshi Lekhi during the latter’s four-day visit to India. Lekhi has shared multiple pictures with Emine where they discussed bilateral issues between the two countries. She wrote, “Not a time for War- PM @narendramodi Pleased to meet Ukrainian First Dy FM @EmineDzheppar. Exchanged views on bilateral & global issues of mutual interest. Cultural ties & women empowerment also figured in the discussion. Ukraine was assured of enhanced humanitarian assistance.” Ukraine had recently asked India to allow it to participate in the G20 summit in India this year, but there has been no update on it yet from Government of India.
