‘The Flash’ Marks a Below-Par Box Office Performance
DC Comics’ comeback plans have registered a poor start as The Flash fails to bring more people to the theatres. While the Box Office Mojo reports that the film has crossed a respectable $210 million worldwide, it barely comes close to the entire budget of the film, including its marketing. The makers had gone all out to promote The Flash all over the world, which included getting Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton and George Clooney to reprise their individual Batman characters. However, this strategy appears to have missed the mark even after two weeks of the film’s release.
The Flash trails around the character’s ability to exceed the speed of light and thus turn back time. It also explores the multiverse as we see Batman from different universes, and it also introduces the character of Supergirl in the DCU for the first time. The film has also received largely positive critical reviews in terms of the plot and acting performances. However, the film could not manage to capture the audience’s attention as it was not well-received at the box office. Instead, the erstwhile release of Spiderman: Across the SpiderVerse continues to dominate The Flash in the theatres.
