‘The Archies’ new poster reignites nepotism debate

The Archies is all set for a Netflix release later this year, and it will mark the debut of Shahrukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan. Along with Suhana, it will also mark the debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda and Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor. The makers have shared a new poster of this film ahead of its much-awaited release, but it seems to have received mixed reactions from fans. While many expressed excitement for this venture, others expressed their dismay over Bollywood’s continued practice of nepotism.

Social media was flooded with reactions where people remarked on how film projects are created just to launch star-kids. Some of them also protested against the ‘spoiling’ of Archies characters to launch these star-kids. While the plot of The Archies is not known yet, its characters are likely to be inspired by the superhit comic series, which has already inspired several other shows. However, this film, which stars Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor as some of the major characters, is likely to portray the issue of deforestation, as per reports. This project will also be the first solo project of filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s Tiger Baby production house. The Archies release date is expected to be revealed soon.
