BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has filed a Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, accusing her of making “malicious and cheap” remarks against him
BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has filed a Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, accusing her of making “malicious and cheap” remarks against him. The controversy stems from Surekha’s allegation that Rama Rao was responsible for the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. In response, Rama Rao, through social media, expressed confidence that the courts would uphold the truth, stating that he had taken a firm stand against these baseless allegations and personal attacks. He labeled the comments as part of a cowardly effort to tarnish his character. Previously, Rama Rao had filed a defamation case in a city court over the same issue and issued a legal notice to Surekha, demanding a public apology. He claims that Surekha made these defamatory statements on October 2 with the intention of damaging his reputation, a punishable offense under Indian law.
He expressed frustration over the increasing use of whisper campaigns and social media attacks for character assassination, noting that these tactics have gone unchecked for too long. Rama Rao emphasized that as a public representative, he has always prioritized addressing public issues, rather than engaging in personal feuds. However, he now feels it is necessary to draw a line and hold individuals accountable for crossing it. In addition to Rama Rao’s legal action, Telugu actor Nagarjuna has also filed a defamation suit against Surekha over her remarks. Rama Rao hopes that this lawsuit will set a precedent, discouraging others from spreading false and harmful rhetoric in the guise of political criticism.
