Sunil Chhetri Aims to Uphold Their ‘Unbeaten Run’

Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetri has been in stellar form and continues to lead team India from the front. He remains one of the highest goal scorers in the world, not far from all-time greats like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. India hasn’t lost a match yet in the ongoing SAFF Championship but recently faced disappointment by registering a draw against Kuwait despite being in the lead in the first half. However, the Indian captain has expressed their determination to continue their unbeaten performance till the end, PTI reports.

Speaking about their performance, Sunil Chhetri said, “To a large extent, we could do exactly what we had trained for. They are not an easy side. This team can play, and we could see that. But we matched their energy, and for most of the time, I think we did well. But the feeling that comes to our mind is that of a loss because we conceded at the last moment. All of us in the dressing room are a little bit disheartened about that. Now, it’s the unbeaten run that we want to keep as long as possible.” He further quipped on how he does not value goals over winning the matches and goals, saying, “I’m not trying to be arrogant, but I don’t take goals too seriously. For now, I really appreciate the love that I get across the whole country, especially here, as it is my home ground. I try my best to give whatever I have on the pitch.”
