Srinagar G20 Meet: China refuses to participate; Turkey, Saudi, Egypt to likely skip as well
The Indian Government has left no stone unturned to ensure that the upcoming Srinagar G20 meet takes place efficiently without any speedbumps. However, China has refused to attend this meeting amidst constant protests from it ally – Pakistan. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin has confirmed that they will not be present in this G20 meeting, citing that it is taking place in a “disputed territory, as per ANI. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt have also not yet registered for this meeting, India’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed.
The Centre has beefed up security for the Srinagar G20 meet and deployed Army troops on the ground to prevent any terror movement ahead of this crucial meet. It will play a major role in creating awareness about Jammu and Kashmir’s potential in tourism, which has traditionally been the backbone of its economy. This meeting will essentially provide a boost to J&K’s tourism as international visitors are expected to start arriving in large numbers in years to come. Except for the mentioned countries, at least 100 delegates are expected in this Srinagar G20 meet.
