SRH vs DC : Delhi Capitals pull a close win against Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH vs DC : Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals have both struggled this season and remained at the bottom of the points table. This contest of SRH vs DC was critical for both teams to still have a chance at the title. Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first but made an underconfident start as Philip Salt got bowled by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for a golden duck. Skipper David Warner and Mitchell Marsh tried their best to push the scoreboard but were soon dismissed in quick succession. Manish Pandey and Axar Patel gave a decent effort under pressure by scoring 34 runs each, but Washington Sundar and Kumar did not allow any Delhi batsmen to settle down. The team finished with an average score of 144 runs in 20 overs.
Chasing a mediocre target, Mayank Agarwal led a decent opening partnership with Harry Brook of 31 runs before the latter was dismissed for a mere 7 runs. Agarwal made a strong effort by scoring 49 runs off 39 balls under pressure as Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ishant Sharma ran through their middle order. Heinrich Klaassen came to Sunrisers’ defence by scoring a quick 31 runs with 3 fours and 1 six, supported by Washington Sundar’s 24 off 15 balls. However, the run rate climbed out of control for Sunrisers as they eventually choked on 137 runs, falling just 7 runs short.
Axar Patel was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his praiseworthy efforts with both bat and the ball. The next match will be played between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.
