Speculations on NEET Question Paper Leak
The National Testing Agency (NTA) administered the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 exam today across 557 cities nationwide and 14 cities abroad, hosted in various exam centers. However, amidst the examination, numerous social media posts surfaced alleging the leakage of the question paper.
Addressing the issue, NTA officials refuted the claims of a paper leak, asserting that every question paper was managed correctly. However, a discrepancy was reported at Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, where Hindi-medium students were mistakenly provided English-medium question papers. Although NTA acknowledged this error, it denied any instance of a paper leak.
A senior NTA official clarified the incident: “The ‘paper leak’ claims are entirely false and aimed at sensationalizing the news. Hindi-medium students received English-medium question papers at the mentioned center by mistake. While the invigilator rectified the error, some students forcefully left the exam hall with the question paper, contrary to protocol.”
The NEET UG 2024 exam took place on May 5 from 2 pm to 5:20 pm, with participation from 23 lakh candidates across the country and abroad, including over 10 lakh male students, over 13 lakh female students, and 24 students registered under the ‘third gender’ category. Southern states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka also saw significant registration numbers.
In the preceding year, NEET UG 2023 witnessed 20,87,449 candidates with an impressive 97.7 percent attendance rate.
