South Korea, US, Japan Deepen Ties Against China, North Korea
South Korea has been keeping a sharp eye on their neighbour Kim Jong-Un-ruled North Korea’s military activities and China’s growing aggression in the Asia-Pacific region and the South China sea. US President Joe Biden hosted his fellow state leaders, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss further prospects of countering China and North Korea. Biden wrote on X, “Today we began the next era of our cooperation with Japan and the Republic of Korea at Camp David, a place defined by new possibilities. We will continue to seize those possibilities together – Unwavering in our unity. Unmatched in our resolve.”
He wrote in another post, “Today, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the United States have committed to swiftly consult each other in response to threats against any one of our countries. That means we’ll have a hotline to share information and coordinate our response whenever there’s a crisis in the region.” South Korea, US, Japan and other influential nations like India and ASEAN nations have come together on several agreements to solidify their mutual understanding to counter the Chinese threat.
