Sooraj Pancholi expresses relief after being acquitted from Jiah Khan suicide abetment case
Sooraj Pancholi had come under the spotlight even before his entry into films after his former girlfriend and late actor Jiah Khan had committed suicide. He was accused of abetting her suicide after she was found dead in her home in Mumbai on June 3, 2013. He pleaded innocent to this charge and has been tried in court ever since. His case has now reached a verdict where he has been found not guilty, citing lack of evidence against him. The actor immediately took to social media to express joy and relief over his acquittal.
Sooraj Pancholi wrote on his Instagram story, “The truth always wins! #GodIsGreat”. Pancholi eventually debuted in films two years after Jiah Khan’s death in ‘Hero’ opposite Athiya Shetty. He has since worked in multiple films, including ‘Satellite Shankar,’ and his most recent film ‘Time to Dance’, which was released in 2021. Sooraj will be next seen in Indian boxer Hawa Singh’s titular biopic, which is currently under production. Prior to starring in films, he had worked as an assistant director in ‘Guzaarish’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger.’
