A new leak from Evan Blass has revealed the key specs of the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus chipset, which is set to debut at IFA Berlin. This variant will feature an 8-core Oryon CPU, a slightly cut-down version of the regular X Plus chip. The new chip will have a single-core boost of 3.4GHz and a multi-core boost of 3.2GHz, as reported earlier. The 8-core X Plus chip will also have a reduced Adreno GPU, rated at 1.7 TFLOPS, compared to the 3.8 TFLOPS on the regular X Plus. Additionally, it will have LPDDR5X RAM with a total cache of 30MB, lower than the 42MB on the X Plus. The chip will support triple external monitors at UHD resolution and 60Hz, whereas the regular X Plus supports 4K at 120Hz.

Despite the reductions, the new X Plus chip will retain some key features, including the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS, the Always-Sensing ISP, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G support. This chip is expected to power CoPilot+ notebooks starting at $800. The Snapdragon X-series chipsets come in two varieties: the X Plus lineup with a 10-core Oryon CPU and the X Elite with 12-core configurations. The leaked specs suggest that the 8-core X Plus chip is designed to offer a balance between performance and power efficiency, making it suitable for laptops that require reliable performance without excessive heat generation. The official launch at IFA Berlin will likely reveal more details about the chip’s capabilities and the laptops that will feature it.
