Shinde-Fadnavis to opt for 2019 seat sharing formula?
The Shinde-Fadnavis government in Maharashtra appears to be working in sync as the two leaders work together to remain in power and achieve their political objectives. They have likely created a roadmap for a sustained partnership as Shiv Sena’s leader and minister Tanaji Sawant said that their party will go for the same seat-sharing formula in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections that was used in the 2019 elections, according to PTI. As per this formula, BJP would contest for 25 out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, whereas Shiv Sena would get the remaining 23 seats.
He said, “The Shiv Sena had contested 23 Lok Sabha seats in 2019 general elections, winning 18. In the next Lok Sabha polls, which is less than a year away, we will do the same. Shiv Sena will contest 23 seats.” The Shinde-Fadnavis government is racing towards inaugurating multiple big-scale developmental projects, including the much-awaited Trans-Harbour Link that will cut down travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to just 20-25 minutes. Parallelly, the work on the Coastal Road Project and the remaining phases of Mumbai Metro has been going at an equal pace, as the Shinde-Fadnavis government aims to complete them before the 2024 General elections and the consequent Assembly elections that will take place in the same year.
