Sharad Pawar Skips Oppn. Meet Amid Political Tussle
NCP leader Sharad Pawar is currently battling a major power struggle within his party after his nephew Ajit Pawar devised a mutiny against him. While all the national and regional opposition leaders will soon be meeting in Bengaluru to decide the further course of action, Sharad Pawar has decided to skip this key meeting despite being among the biggest names in the opposition camp. No official reason has been given from his end behind his absence, but the obvious factor behind it is the political instability within his party.
Ajit Pawar made headlines after announcing his decision to join hands with BJP and Shiv Sena before taking oath as the deputy Chief minister. While Sharad Pawar is making attempts to have his nephew disqualified from NCP and the Maharashtra Assembly, Ajit Pawar is stating that a majority of NCP MLAs are in his support. This means that he may assume control of the Nationalist Congress Party from his uncle, just like Eknath Shinde assumed control and the official symbol of Shiv Sena from Uddhav Thackeray last year before taking oath as the Chief Minister.
