Shaktimaan star Mukesh Khanna conveys concerns over Ranveer Singh playing him for it’s movie
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for his portrayal of Shaktimaan, has voiced concerns about the casting of Ranveer Singh in the upcoming film adaptation of the iconic Indian superhero series
Khanna expressed reservations about Singh’s suitability for the role, citing that the actor’s playful and mischievous persona might not align with the seriousness required for the character of Shaktimaan. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Khanna revealed that Ranveer Singh had personally contacted him, seeking his approval to take on the role. While Khanna acknowledged Singh’s talent and praised his energetic performances, he clarified that no final decision had been made regarding the casting. Khanna also noted that rumours began circulating on social media, suggesting that Singh had been confirmed for the role, which prompted him to release a video clarifying the situation. Given his contractual obligations with Sony, he asked fans to be patient, as the decision was still pending. One of Khanna’s main concerns stemmed from Ranveer Singh’s controversial nude photoshoot, which Khanna had openly criticized.
However, Singh clarified during their discussion that he was not entirely nude during the shoot and had since parted ways with his promotional team over the controversy. Despite this clarification, Khanna remained unconvinced, stating that Singh’s playful nature did not align with the gravitas needed to portray Shaktimaan. While many perceived Khanna’s praise of Ranveer as an endorsement, he emphasized that he had not approved the casting. Khanna further highlighted ongoing issues with Sony and mentioned a lengthy three-hour conversation with Singh, during which he concluded that the actor was not the right fit for the role. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is set to star in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, alongside Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
