Lawrence Bishnoi, a 31-year-old gangster from Punjab, has emerged as one of the most notorious criminals in northern India. His name first gained prominence due to his involvement in student politics at Punjab University. However, his activities quickly escalated to more serious crimes. Lawrence, who comes from the Bishnoi community known for its reverence of the blackbuck, has been linked to high-profile cases such as the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan. His grudge against Khan stems from the actor’s involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which deeply angered the Bishnoi community. Despite being imprisoned, Lawrence continues to manage a vast criminal network, carrying out extortion, smuggling, and contract killings across northern India.

His gang’s operations have extended to international levels, with one of his associates, Goldy Brar, claiming responsibility for Moosewala’s murder from Canada. The Bishnoi gang’s influence has reached Mumbai, where repeated threats against Salman Khan have raised concerns for the actor’s safety. The gang allegedly planned to kill Khan as revenge for the Blackbuck incident, leading to heightened security around his residence. Recently, the gang has also been linked to the assassination of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique. Operating behind bars, Bishnoi has managed to wield significant power, with authorities struggling to neutralize his influence. His gang’s ability to thrive in the criminal underworld, even from within prison, poses a continuing threat to public figures and officials across India.
