RR vs CSK: Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 31 runs
Cricket fans around the world experienced yet another emotional roller coaster in last night’s RR vs CSK contest. Playing at their home ground last night, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal went blazing right from the start and was supported well by partner Jos Butler. The duo made a long opening partnership before Butler was dismissed on 27. Jaiswal continued his onslaught and scored a terrific 77 runs with 8 fours and 4 sixes before being caught by Ajinkya Rahane. Chennai bowlers struck back by getting quick wickets of skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmeyer, but Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal took Rajasthan’s score to 202 runs in 20 overs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad began Chennai’s innings well and hit 47 runs with 5 fours and 1 six. However, Ravichandra Ashwin, Adam Zampa, and Kuldeep Yadav dominated Chennai’s middle order and got Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayadu for 15 runs and a duck, respectively. But the in-form Shivam Dube thrived under pressure by smashing 52 runs with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Despite fans’ huge expectation to see Chennai skipper MS Dhoni back to his chasing ways, he sent Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali ahead of him to finish the job. But they fell short by a huge margin as CSK only reached 170 runs in 20 overs, handing Rajasthan Royals this crucial win.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for helping Rajasthan get back to their winning streak and top of the points table once again with his excellent knock. The next match will be played between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
