The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, featuring a record-breaking pool of 1574 players, is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25
According to the BCCI’s announcement, the lineup includes 1165 Indian cricketers alongside 409 overseas players from nations worldwide. This player list comprises 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 from Associate Nations. Forty-eight capped and 965 uncapped players from India are part of the auction. This year’s event, the second consecutive overseas auction following Dubai in 2024, will coincide with the third and fourth day of India’s Test match against Australia in Perth. Each of the 10 IPL franchises will have the chance to build a squad of up to 25 players, filling 204 available spots. With Rs 641.5 crore collectively at their disposal, the franchises have already retained 46 players for Rs 558.5 crore, reducing each franchise’s original budget of Rs 120 crore.
Currently, Punjab Kings hold the most significant remaining purse of Rs 110.5 crore, having retained only two uncapped players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh for Rs 9.5 crore while Rajasthan Royals, with six retained players, have the smallest purse at Rs 41 crore. South Africa has the second-largest pool among international players with 91 participants, followed by Australia with 76 and England with 52 players. Smaller contingents hail from nations like the Netherlands, USA, Canada, and Italy. With 70 overseas slots up for grabs, high-profile Indian stars like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh are expected to attract significant bids in this highly anticipated event.
