Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam stirred up a controversy by referring to BJP leader and Maharashtra PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan as a “useless minister” over the poor state of the Mumbai-Goa Highway. Kadam, a former minister, criticized Chavan for the incomplete work on the highway, which passes through the coastal districts of Maharashtra. Kadam’s comments were made in Thane, where he questioned the effectiveness of Chavan’s review meetings and tours, given the persisting problems on the highway. He even suggested that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should ask for Chavan’s resignation.
However, Fadnavis countered Kadam’s remarks, questioning the Shiv Sena leader’s adherence to the principles of the Mahayuti alliance. Fadnavis stated that Kadam could have addressed his concerns internally rather than made public comments. Despite this, Fadnavis assured us that he would look into the issues Kadam raised. The controversy highlights the tensions within the Mahayuti alliance, which comprises the BJP and Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena leaders from Kalyan had recently met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s son, MP Shrikant Shinde, to express their disappointment over the poor condition of the Mumbai-Goa Highway. The issue has become a point of contention between the two alliance partners.
