Rajnath Singh Introduces Defence Bill: All You Need to Know
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has presented the Defence Bill in the Parliament, which is going through rounds of discussion as MPs from all political spectrums raise their doubts and opinions on it. This Defence Bill, which is called Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill 2023. This Bill passes on the right to take certain administrative to India’s three defence chiefs – the Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs, which will end up saving a lot of time of the armed forces in executing various important decisions that need urgent attention.
These administrative works were carried out by the bureaucratic structure of the Defence Ministry, which would take longer periods of time. However, this Bill will empower the Defence Chiefs to take these decisions within the necessary deadlines, thereby avoiding any delay. One of the primary examples of such scenarios is basic defence procurements, which earlier used to take a long time as the military leadership would have to wait for Defence Ministry’s clearance. However, this Bill will make the implementation of necessary decisions like these faster and much more efficient.
