Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, is set to make his electoral debut in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections
Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, is set to make his electoral debut in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The MNS announced on October 22 that Amit will contest from the Mahim assembly seat in central Mumbai, marking a significant moment for the party as it seeks to expand its political influence. Along with Amit’s debut, the MNS released its first list of 45 candidates for the November 20 polls. Sandeep Deshpande, MNS spokesperson and former corporator, will contest from Worli, where he is expected to face Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. The MNS has renominated its only sitting MLA, Pramod Patil, from the Kalyan rural seat in Thane district. The party, led by Raj Thackeray, has decided to contest the elections independently without any alliance, aiming to increase its representation in the assembly.
Raj Thackeray expressed confidence about the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections, stating that the MNS will contest with total energy and expects to be part of the government post-elections. He further mentioned that MNS would field the most candidates among all political parties, signifying the party’s determination to carve out a more significant role in Maharashtra’s political landscape. Maharashtra will go to the polls on November 20, and results will be declared on November 23. The primary contest will be between the ruling Mahayuti coalition, comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, and the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), consisting of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.
