Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw: Will Launch 3,000 New Trains in 5 yrs
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has made a big announcement regarding his future plans for Bharatiya Railways. Currently, trains all around the country face delays and have a much longer travel time with limited facilities and comfort due to several reasons, which ultimately puts a strain on the nation’s economic activities across all sectors. To counter this massive problem, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has revealed that his Ministry is aiming to launch 3,000 new trains in the next five years, which will have a modern design with ‘push-pull configuration’ technology.
“At present, the railways are carrying about 800 crore passengers annually. We have to increase the capacity to 1,000 crore in four to five years as the population is growing. For this, we need 3,000 extra trains which will make several trips to accommodate this increased number of passengers. This is possible with a technology known as push-pull configuration mode. We are planning to introduce this push-pull configuration on all the coaches which are being manufactured now,” he said, as per PTI.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also added that the government has also sanctioned about 1,000 flyovers and underpasses all across the country, and the construction work has also begun in several places. Vaishnaw took over the Railway Ministry in 2019, along with the Communications Ministry and the IT Ministry.
