Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to revisit Odisha

Just a few weeks after the deadly train accident that occurred in Odisha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is returning to the state on a three-day visit. He is embarking on the journey starting June 19, and he will visit Balasore train station and the rescue operations workers who had worked round the clock after the tragedy. The Railways released a statement saying, “Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will visit the Balasore district hospital and will meet with the officials of the hospital and district administration. Apart from this, Vaishnaw will inspect and review the development of Balasore railway station.”


A total of 291 lives were lost in this horrific rail accident, wherein three trains collided with each other. In the Balasore district of Odisha, the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, the Yeswantpur-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train collided with each other, which shocked the nation. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw immediately rushed to the crash site to oversee the matter and was eventually joined by PM Modi. A high-level probe has been initiated on this matter, wherein all possibilities, such as signalling errors or a conspiracy, are being taken into consideration. The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken charge of this investigation and is expected to divulge details on this matter soon.
