Poonch attack : Terrorists that martyred 5 Rashtriya Rifles linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba
Poonch attack : A major terror attack took place on April 20 in the Poonch-Rajauri area of Jammu & Kashmir that took the lives of 5 Rashtriya Rifles jawans and left one injured. A prompt investigation was conducted on this attack which revealed that seven terrorists from Lashkar-e-Tayiba attacked Rashtriya Rifles, as per Hindustan Times. It has been further revealed by Jammu and Kashmir Police that the terrorists had used rocket-propelled grenades to attack the convoy of RR jawans that was passing through the area.
This marks the fourth time that Indian Army has faced casualties in the Poonch-Rajauri area. The exact location of this attack is 7 km away from Bhimber Gali in the Line of Control (LOC). The area is surrounded by dense forests, which is where the terrorists were reportedly hiding before the attack and waiting to ambush the convoy. Another senior official of Jammu & Kashmir has added that this attack was purposely planned by the Pakistani state in light of the G20 meeting that will be taking place in J&K. However, there is no word yet on the further course of action as a response to this attack.
