PM Modi to Steer International Yoga Day at UN HQ, New York
PM Modi has flown to the United States for a historic state visit for three days, where he will work with President Joe Biden and the American polity to deepen strategic ties between the two nations. But instead of Washington D.C., Modi landed in New York first to visit the United Nations Headquarters to celebrate International Yoga Day. He will lead officials from India and all over the world on this occasion by practising Yoga and raising awareness about its health and spiritual benefits.
After this event, PM Modi has a hectic three-day schedule planned wherein he will finalise the transfer of technology regarding jet engines, as India aims to become a defence manufacturing and export hub and make its own line of fighter jets. Another major agenda of this visit is India’s attempts to ensure the economic decoupling between the United States of America and China in the long run, thereby shifting the manufacturing units to India and keeping the Chinese aggression in check. Elon Musk has recently announced that his automobile company Tesla will be coming to India, which displays the shift of American companies towards the Indian market. This visit is said to be of critical importance from both India’s and America’s individual perspectives.
