PM Modi to Address a Rally in Naxal-Hit Chhattisgarh Region
PM Modi is in the midst of a hectic rally schedule that is taking place in the election-bound states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh. While he has conducted several rallies in this election cycle so far, his upcoming rally in Kanker, Chhattisgarh is notably more important, given that it is also a subtle yet strong message to Naxal groups. The Kanker district has faced a long struggle against Naxals, who are known to attack security officials and convoys carrying politicians to assert their dominance in the region.
However, PM Modi will land at the Raipur airport and leave for Kankar in his helicopter on Thursday afternoon. He is scheduled to address his rally in Kanker at 3 pm, and a massive security cover has been deployed ahead of his arrival. The Special Protection Group (SPG) will be working with the State and Paramilitary security officials around the area to ensure multi-layer safety for PM Modi. The elections in Chhattisgarh will take place in two phases, with the first phase slated for November 7 and the second phase scheduled for November 17. The final counting of the votes will take place on December 3.
