PM Modi pays Tribute to late BJP State General Secretary: Salem Rally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi became emotional during a public rally in Salem, Tamil Nadu, as he remembered the late BJP state general secretary, V Ramesh, who was tragically killed in 2013. He praised Ramesh’s tireless dedication to the party, describing him as a committed leader who worked tirelessly. Modi paid homage to Ramesh, acknowledging his significant contributions.
V Ramesh, aged 54, was brutally murdered by an unknown group in Salem in 2013. In addition to Ramesh, Modi also honoured the late former Tamil Nadu BJP president KN Lakshmanan, highlighting his pivotal role in the anti-emergency movement and his efforts in socio-cultural activities. Modi emphasized Lakshmanan’s contribution to expanding the BJP’s presence in the state and his establishment of numerous schools.
Reflecting on his government’s initiatives in Tamil Nadu, Modi underscored their commitment to the state’s development, citing measures such as free medical treatment, tap water connections, and support for women through schemes like MUDRA Yojana. Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, Modi rallied for support, expressing optimism about the party’s performance.
During the 2019 general elections, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Secular Progressive Alliance secured a landslide victory, winning 38 out of 39 seats. The PMK, a key ally of the BJP, contested seven seats but failed to secure any in the polls. However, it saw a slight increase in vote share compared to the previous election. Tamil Nadu is set to vote on all 39 Lok Sabha seats on April 19, with the results to be announced on June 4.
