PM Modi on Manipur Video Incident: 140 Crore Indians Ashamed
In the onset of this year’s Monsoon Parliament Session, PM Modi has expressed his shock and grief over the Manipur video incident. This video, which shows a group of men parading two women in a naked state, has jolted the nation and caught public anger as citizens have taken to social media and calling for heavy punishment for the perpetrators. In the ongoing Parliament session, PM Modi has condemned this incident in a stern message saying, “Today the whole nation is ashamed and humiliated. The video going viral on social media is an embarrassment to all the 140 crore Indians. It is an insult to the entire nation. Perpetrators will not be spared at any cost.”
He further added, “My heart is filled with pain and anger. The incident from Manipur that has come before us is shameful for any civilised society. I urge all the CMs to further strengthen law and order in their states, especially for the security of women and take the strongest measures.” Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has also criticised this incident and called it an ‘inhumane act.” He has announced that the first arrest has already been made in this case, and the Manipur Police is working in full swing to catch the perpetrators. “A thorough investigation is currently underway, and we will ensure strict action is taken against all the perpetrators, including considering the possibility of capital punishment. Let it be known, there is absolutely no place for such heinous acts in our society,” he tweeted.
My hearts go out to the two women who were subjected to a deeply disrespectful and inhumane act, as shown in the distressing video that surfaced yesterday. After taking a Suo-moto cognisance of the incident immediately after the video surfaced, the Manipur Police swung to action…
