PM Modi meets Aussie Oppn. Leader Peter Dutton, seeks bipartisan support
PM Modi has concluded his three-nation visit to Australia on a high note as he interacted with the massive Indian diaspora in the country. While he has been holding extensive talks with Aussie PM Anthony Albanese, Modi has also made it a point to garner Australian bipartisan support by meeting their Leader of Opposition, Peter Dutton. After the meeting, Dutton tweeted, “Wonderful to catch up again with a great friend of Australia, @narendramodi. Proud of the special and growing relationship Australia has with India and may it go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”
MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also shared a note on this meeting saying, “A relationship enjoying support across the political spectrum. PM @narendramodi had a productive meeting with Leader of Opposition @PeterDutton_MP in Sydney. PM Modi conveyed his appreciation for the strong bipartisan support that our partnership enjoys.” Among the many other geopolitical and economic agreements, India and Australia have both decided to increase the number of consulates. While Australia is opening up a new consulate in Bengaluru, PM Modi announced that India is opening a consulate in Brisbane.
