PM Modi addresses World Health Assembly, urges greater cooperation in healthcare
PM Modi is currently in Australia, where he has commenced the last phase of his six-day foreign tour, but he has made sure to mark his presence via video message in United Nation’s 76th World Health Assembly, which has been addressed by state heads around the world. During his speech, he talked about various issues related to global health and the goals that this assembly would set for the next 25 years when it will be completing a century of service. In this address, he emphasised the urgent need for deeper collaboration in healthcare.
PM Modi noted that to achieve global health equity, nations around the world should be more open to extending cooperation to regions that do not have advanced health infrastructure. He also highlighted India’s commitment to world healthcare by reminding how it exported 300 million Covid vaccines to over a hundred nations, including those from the Global South. PM Modi is currently engaged in interaction with the vast Indian diaspora present in Australia, where he will address them in a major event organised by the Australian government.
