Parliament Monsoon Session Remains Disrupted on Manipur

The Parliament monsoon session has witnessed extreme chaos over the last few days as the Opposition leaders continue to protest against the tense situation in the state of Manipur. Due to the frozen state of dialogue between the government and the opposition on this matter, BJP leader Piyush Goyal had made attempts to reach out to their political rivals in an attempt to initiate the discussion around Manipur. However, despite making multiple such attempts, the Parliament continues to remain at a standstill even as riots and violence rage on in Manipur.

This disruption in the Parliament monsoon session has taken place after a video of two women being paraded by a mob of men in a naked state went viral on social media. Political leaders of all spectrums have condemned this incident, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called it a cause for shame for ‘140 crore Indians.’ Many of those offenders have already been arrested by the Manipur police even as the investigation continues at full pace throughout the state. However, despite the ruckus over the Manipur situation, the Parliament monsoon session has witnessed the passing of 31 Bills till now, which includes the Delhi Ordinance Bill.
