Parliament Erupts Over Manipur Video Incident

The horrific Manipur video incident sent shockwaves across the nation after a video emerged on social media that captured a group of men parading two women in a naked state. Before yesterday’s Monsoon Parliament session could begin, PM Narendra Modi expressed his shock over the incident and assured the nation that no offender would be spared. However, the opposition strongly raised this issue in the Parliament and questioned the Governments lack of action in dealing with the unstable situation in Manipur and the terrible ordeal that the victims had to go through.

After the session, BJP leader and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal lashed out at the opposition during a media briefing and stated that they were creating a ruckus and not allowing the discussion on the Manipur video incident to take place. He said, “The Congress and the rest of the opposition parties disrupted the House proceedings even though the government made it clear that it is ready for discussion. It became clear from the attitude of the opposition that they came, making up their mind, that they will not allow the House to function,” as per ANI.

The discussion on the Manipur video incident is likely to continue in today’s session, even as the Manipur Police investigates this matter in full swing. Meanwhile, the government has asked all social media platforms to take down the disturbing video from all their sites and accounts.
