Opposition Brings No-Confidence Motion Against Modi Government
The Opposition leaders are all set to present the No-Confidence motion in Parliament today against the B.J.P.’s N.D.A. government. This development comes in light of the disruption caused in Parliament over the last few days due to Manipur’s volatile situation. Congress leader Manickam leader said in this No-Confidence motion, “I.N.D.I.A. alliance is together. Our alliance has proposed this idea, and yesterday it was decided. Today, the Congress party’s leader is moving it. We wanted to break the arrogance of Mr Modi,” as per Republic.
He further criticised PM Modi saying, “He is behaving as an arrogant person, not to come to Parliament and make a statement on Manipur. We feel that it is our duty to use this last weapon.” However, this is not the first time that opposition leaders have presented a No-Confidence motion against the N.D.A. government. They had also proposed this motion months before the 2019 elections but could not bring down the Modi government due to a lack of numbers. Since the N.D.A. government still holds a dominating majority in Lok Sabha, it is unlikely that this motion will reach its result. The ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament continues to remain at a standstill even as the situation remains fragile in Manipur.
