‘Oppenheimer’ Star Cillian Murphy Reveals He Read Bhagvad Gita
Cinema lovers around the world are eagerly waiting to watch Oppenheimer on the big screen. Just a week before its release, film lead Cillian Murphy, who plays the titular role in the film, recalled that he had read the famous Hindu scripture Bhagvad Gita to get into Oppenheimer’s character. “I did read the Bhagvad Gita in preparation for the film. I thought it was an absolutely beautiful text. Very inspiring. It was a consolation to Oppenheimer. He kind of needed it. It provided consolation to him throughout his life,” he said.
Oppenheimer revolves around the life and work of American nuclear scientist J. Oppenheimer, who is credited for the creation of the atomic bomb. Ace filmmaker Christopher Nolan directed this film, which also stars other major Hollywood stars like Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, and others. Oppenheimer is slated for a worldwide release on July 21. The film will also be available in IMAX format in theatres around the world for a better cinematic experience for the audience.
